Yoga class seminarists chant the mantra Raghu Pati Raghava Raja Ram during a saturday evening satsang at Yoga Vidya Bad Meinberg, Germany. The mantra Raghu Pati Raghava Raja Ram is sometimes called Ram Dhun and it is a very popular bhajan (Hindu devotional song) in India as well it was one of the favourite bhajans of Mahatma Gandhi and was sung by Gandhi and his followers as they walked during the 241 mile Salt March to Dandi. Vani Devi chantes the Kirtan of the Hanuman Chalisa, written by Tulsidas (1532-1623) in Awadhi language. „Chalisa“ is derived from the Hindi word „chali“ which simply means forty and because the kirtan about Hanuman has forty verses, it got the title of „Hanuman Chalisa“. Jaya Ganesha – chanted by Darshini Devi – instrumental accompanied with a harmonium played by Darshini Devi and violin, played by Yvan. The Jaya Ganesha is probably one of the most popular Kirtans in Yoga Vidya Ashrams and yoga centers as well as in the Sivananda Yoga ashrams and centers. This Kirtan is a collection of mantras focused on spiritual awakening, healing and activation of all internal forces.
The Jaya Ganesha Kirtan was taken by Swami Sivananda and his students made it very popular. You can listen and hear it in every satsang in the centers and ashrams of the Divine Life Society, the Sivananda Yoga and Yoga Vidya Centers. Really very uplifting.
